Wow…I love this album. When I first threw on the track ‘La Gallina’, my wife ran into the office, started dancing, peppered me with questions and heaped praise on Ozomatli. In fact as I was writing this review, ‘La Gallina’ came on and my wife came running into the office again. I am convinced that this track has some type of power over women.

The hardest part of reviewing this album was trying to choose my favorite tracks. Every time I listen to ‘Don’t Mess With The Dragon’ I discover new favorites and question whether or not I shouldn’t have just included all of the tracks as my favorites.

Sadly Latin music and Latin influenced music doesn’t get much air time here in western Canada. I put the question to a couple of dozen acquaintances in western Canada and the northwest USA. What do you think of Ozomatli’s ‘Don’t Mess With Dragon’? Their response was muted as they had never heard of Ozo. Here is a group with a solid list of awards, tv appearances, sound tracks, world-wide tours etc…that just haven’t hit the next level but certainly deserve it, especially with this release.

If you don’t have any Latin blood in you, this album might just infuse a little bit into you.
